Wild Kitchen at The Hideaway: Seven Months of Good Food, Good Music and Great Company

Wild Kitchen began with one simple conversation while we were trying out Deli & Dough in Crieff for the first time back in May — the delicious takeaway run by the same chef who now brings Wild Kitchen to The Hideaway. At the time, none of us knew how long the idea would last. We thought it might run for a month, maybe two, or perhaps it would be just a one-off. Yet here we are, and this Saturday we’ll be hosting our seventh collaboration with the Wild Kitchen.

Over these months, we’ve welcomed many lovely people and, in the process, met so many new friends and customers. Being travelling by have stopped in on their way to the west coast of Scotland. Our regulars like to pop by, pick up their food and take it home to enjoy with family and friends. We’ve had food lovers make the journey from Glasgow and Edinburgh just to try the menu. And, of course, our wonderful local community joins us each month for good food, good company and a relaxed evening together. What started as a small idea has grown into something far more meaningful — a monthly moment we all genuinely look forward to.

I still remember the very first time I tried Stuart’s pulled pork tacos. It was the burst of flavour that surprised me most — fresh ingredients, bright seasoning, and that squeeze of the fresh slice of lime that brought everything to life. It was one of those dishes that stays with you long after you’ve finished it. Since then, I’ll admit I’ve asked every single month if the tacos are making a return to the menu.

I think and have heard some feedback — and correct me if I’m wrong — that people really do enjoy something a little bit different, and that’s exactly what we’re offering with Wild Kitchen x The Hideaway collaboration.

Wild Kitchen has become something I truly treasure, not just because of the food, but because of the care and heart behind every event. Every month brings a completely new, seasonal menu designed exclusively for that evening, which keeps things exciting and gives everyone something to anticipate. Most months we also welcome live music, which adds warmth and atmosphere, helping to create the relaxed, welcoming environment people now associate with Wild Kitchen nights.

There is something quietly uplifting about these evenings. The smell of food cooking outdoors, the gentle rhythm of conversation, the music drifting across the space and the mix of familiar faces and new ones — it all comes together to create a gathering that feels meaningful and effortless at the same time. It has naturally become a place where people linger, talk, laugh, and simply enjoy being part of something.

Our next Wild Kitchen will take place on Saturday 29th November, from 4pm until 8pm, here at The Hideaway in Comrie. The Hideaway stays open until 8pm too, so you can browse and shop while enjoying your evening, taking your time to wander through the space and make a night of it. As always, the menu will be completely new, crafted especially for the evening. You can expect a warm atmosphere, relaxed vibes and that unmistakable sense of community that has grown around these events.

I am sincerely grateful to everyone who has supported Wild Kitchen over the last seven months, and to the chef behind it for bringing such creativity, generosity and heart to each collaboration. What began as a quiet idea has become one of the loveliest parts of life at The Hideaway, and I’m excited to see where it continues to go.

Whether you’ve visited before or are planning to come along for the first time, we would be delighted to welcome you to our next Wild Kitchen evening — a simple, meaningful celebration of good food, good company and the joy of coming together.
